The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at The University of Toledo invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in Sociology at the assistant professor level to begin August 2015. We seek a candidate with expertise in urban sociology. The successful applicant will have an interdisciplinary vision in order to contribute to programs on campus, such as Urban Studies and the Urban Affairs Center. Applicants should demonstrate strong commitment to research, as well as teaching and service. The department offers a BA and MA in Sociology.
The teaching load is five courses per academic year. The successful candidate will teach a rotation of graduate and undergraduate courses that would typically include a general education course, courses related to urban sociology, and possibly one of the following: classical or contemporary theory, research methods, or social statistics.
A PhD in Sociology is required. ABD applicants should include a letter from their advisor that assures that their degree will be completed by the time of appointment. The search will remain open until the position is filled. However, the review of applications will begin on June 1st.
