The Desautels Faculty of Management at McGill University invites applications for an open rank position in health management. The expected starting date is August 2016; and the teaching load and salary are competitive.

The Desautels Faculty of Management has over 70 full-time professors, of which about 20% are primarily interested in health management research and well connected to the research hospitals of the McGill University Health Centre as well as to health policy makers. The teaching programs in the area of health management include a Collaborative Research and Training Experience Program in Healthcare Operations and Information Management for PhD students, a joint MD-MBA program with the Faculty of Medicine, and an International Masters in Health Leadership program for practicing managers.

The School of Public Policy is actively seeking applicants for a tenure-track assistant professor position at the Georgia Tech campus in Atlanta, Georgia.  The position is in the fields of institutional and organizational analysis and policy process, with a focus related to one or more of the School’s major emphases in science and technology policy, environmental and energy policy, information and communication policy, regional innovation, social and urban policy, or ethical inquiry in policy research and teaching.  Our work benefits from synergies with the Institute’s tradition of innovative interdisciplinary research, as well as the Institute’s world-class engineering curriculum.  Basic job duties will include teaching, research, and service activities for the school.

The Department of Sociology at Texas A&M University invites applications for the position of Department Head.

The position carries the rank of Professor and will have a starting date of July 1, 2016, or as otherwise negotiated. The Department Head reports to the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts. Candidates should have a doctoral degree in Sociology or a closely related field, a nationally or internationally recognized record of scholarship, excellence in teaching, and administrative experience. The department specializations are: culture; crime, law and deviance; demography; organizational, political and economic sociology; race, class and gender; and social psychology. Areas of specialty are open but preference will be given to candidates whose teaching and research interests match those of the department. Once hired, the department head will be expected to conduct research and publish, teach courses and engage in administrative activities.

The Faculty of Arts invites applications for the position of Head of the Department of Sociology, with anticipated start date of July 1, 2016. We expect that the successful candidate will be appointed at the rank of full Professor; however, exceptional candidates at the senior Associate Professor level also will be considered. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D., a distinguished record of research preferably in any of the Department’s broad areas of specialization, a strong commitment to advancing all areas of research, a demonstrated commitment to high quality teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels, and possess a track record of successful graduate supervision.  The Department is committed to international visibility, research excellence and societal impact.

Call for Applications: Early Career Work and Family Fellowships

The Work and Family Researchers Network (WFRN) is seeking applicants for 2016 Early Career Work and Family Fellowships. The goal of the program is to help promising young scholars establish career successes, as well as connect them to the WFRN community. Fifteen scholars will be selected for the program.  Fellows receive a one year membership in the WFRN, conference registration, and $500 to help defer expenses to attend the 2016 WFRN Conference (to be held June 23-25 in Washington DC). At the conference, special events will be targeted to serve interests of fellows, including networking opportunities with senior scholars and teaching/research workshops. In addition, fellows will be connected with one another in periodic encounters beyond the conference, intended to facilitate collaboration and peer-mentorship. To be eligible, candidates must have received their doctorate in 2013 or later and have yet to progress into tenured or secure senior level positions.  Eligibility is not restricted on the basis of national location. The University of Virginia Department of Sociology seeks to fill a non-tenure track Lecturer position during the 2015-2016 academic year. The initial one year appointment may be renewable for an additional year contingent upon funding, satisfactory performance, and departmental teaching needs. A teaching load of 2-2 is anticipated, and compensation will take the form of part-time salary with part-time benefits. This appointment is not eligible for ECE (Expectation of Continued Employment). Subject areas of particular need include, but are not limited to, Sociology of Health and Illness, Medical Sociology, Crime and Deviance, Environmental Sociology, Race and Ethnicity, Inequality. Applicants must be on track to receive a PhD in the relevant field by May 2015 and must hold a PhD at the time of appointment.
