Job Posting: Two TT Assistant Professor Positions at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

The Department of Sociology at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign announces two job openings that may be of interest to OOW members.  Please see the details on each position below.

Post 1: Faculty Position in Social Inequality, Department of Sociology
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

Pending administrative approval, the Department of Sociology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign welcomes applications and nominations for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor in the field of social inequality, broadly construed. We are especially interested in scholars who approach these topics using quantitative or mixed methods, and whose research trajectory shows promise for seeking external funding. Candidates must possess strong theoretical, analytical, and empirical skills; a commitment to excellence in research and teaching is essential. Successful candidates are expected to teach effectively at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, establish and maintain an active and independent research program, and provide service to the department, the university and the profession.

Applicants must have a promising research agenda and a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching. PhD required at time of application or by June 20, 2016 to be appointed as an Assistant Professor. Target start date is August 16, 2016. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Pending administrative approval, the Department of Sociology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign welcomes applications and nominations for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor in the field of transnational sociology, broadly construed with specialization in globalization and gender, transnational gender inequality, transnational feminist or women’s movements, qualitative or mixed methods. Candidates must possess strong theoretical, analytical, and empirical skills; a commitment to excellence in research and teaching is essential. Successful candidates are expected to teach effectively at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, establish and maintain an active and independent research program, and provide service to the department, the university and the profession.
