Workshop: Central and eastern European employment relations, University of Greenwich, UK

Please note the upcoming workshop on Central and eastern European employment relations in perspective: history, geography and variegation, which will take place on the 30th January 2015 at University of Greenwich.  The workshop is organized by the Work and Employment Research Unit of the University of Greenwich and  International Employment Relations Association (Europe). It aims to provide transdisciplinary and critical perspectives on political and socio-economic restructuring that has characterised post-socialist central and eastern European (CEE) countries in order to discuss changed and transnationalised employment relations, re-valuation and (self)disciplining of subjectivities, resistance and variegated forms of capitalisms that characterise contemporary CEE region and its relations with the West.

Effective August 1, 2014, we became the new coeditors of Social Psychology Quarterly. In an effort to expand the breadth of the journal, we are reaching out to you to encourage you to consider submitting your work to SPQ. We would like to attract more contributions to the journal from a broad base of researchers who use social psychological approaches. We think that for many in this section, this would include your work.

Job announcement: SUNY-Brockport Sociology, tenure track assistant prof

The Department of Sociology at the College at Brockport, State University of New York invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor position beginning fall 2015.  We seek an active scholar with a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching excellence. Ph.D. in Sociology is required, with primary teaching and research interests in globalization and/or immigration. ABDs may be considered, but those hired ABD must earn their doctoral degree within six months of being hired.  The successful candidate must be able to teach sociological theory. Secondary interests should ideally be in one or more of the following areas: work and organizations or politics and social change. Scholarship, professional development, student advising and mentoring, departmental  and college service, and an ability to teach a diverse student population are expected.  Financial support for research and scholarship is available.
