The School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts at the University of California, Merced, invites applications from exceptional scholars for a faculty position in Sociology at the Assistant Professor level (tenure-track).

The committee is interested in applicants whose research will contribute to the department’s existing strengths in social inequality (race, class, gender and sexuality), social institutions (e.g., education, health), and politics (social movements, public policy); and who have an excellent record of publication. Preference will be given to those who have the ability to teach graduate statistics. The Department of Sociology at Texas A&M University invites applications for the position of Department Head.

The position carries the rank of Professor and will have a starting date of July 1, 2016, or as otherwise negotiated. The Department Head reports to the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts. Candidates should have a doctoral degree in Sociology or a closely related field, a nationally or internationally recognized record of scholarship, excellence in teaching, and administrative experience. The department specializations are: culture; crime, law and deviance; demography; organizational, political and economic sociology; race, class and gender; and social psychology. Areas of specialty are open but preference will be given to candidates whose teaching and research interests match those of the department. Once hired, the department head will be expected to conduct research and publish, teach courses and engage in administrative activities.

Associate or Full Professor of Sociology

The Department of Sociology at The City College of New York (CCNY), City University of New York (CUNY) invites interested persons to apply for a full-time, tenured position for people currently at either the advanced Associate or Full Professor level to start at the beginning of the Fall 2013 semester. Substantive areas of interest are open, but preference will be given to candidates who specialize in areas that build upon the strengths of the department (see http://www1.ccny.cuny.edu/prospective/socialsci/sociology/). The department has strong research and master’s and undergraduate programs. Successful candidates will be expected to exercise leadership in the department and programs, including a willingness to chair the department. Successful candidates, once hired, are also expected to fulfill the College’s requirements with regard to teaching, research, record of publications, and service to the institution.

Salaries are commensurate with experience.
